Track Name: Knots
Scared or not, I'm drinking coffee cold. Familiar strangers will be
Tangling realities that seem so real to me.
Awoke, awash, I wait to watch my clock's arms stop
With such ceaseless spins so seldom seen
Though I did wander into streams, but I do not emerge clean.

Unhealthy doses of lightning, a thunderous alarm clock ring.
We have the heaviest eyelids. I wish you'd scream
"Wake up, you're drowning in sloe gin", knocking back those Ambien.
Is this real or just a dream?

If cigarettes are opinions then I could do with a second.
I'll take up my seat on the rings of Saturn. Smoke while comets burn.

And now I'm tying up knots in the rings of Saturn...
Track Name: Gravity
Your excuses seem tired, so let's give them a rest tonight.
I'm trying to settle the fire, while you sit back, take aim and ignite.
My intentions are good, just raised in attendance of a ghost
that's been sleeping next to you, keeping score of the notches on your bedpost.

So how about you? Are you still bending noughts to squares?
Spare me the truth, did you get there in the end?

They sit, watch, as we collide. Lighting up the spinning tide
She holds me down impossible to flee, when she pulls like gravity.

Do you remember that winter when we sang when things turned green again?
We ran away from the frostbite and drowned our sins in sugar and champagne.
Oh Mother Mother, when did I lose the face to pretend that I trusted mirrors when they only show us backwards in the end?
Track Name: The Middleton Tooth Museum
So I've been playing, rolling stones again.
And I've lost three days of my time of times to snow.
Your impression lasts lifetimes it curdles most.
Mine are mainly marks and fingerprints.

And so the scrapes on their knees are blown by the wind through the trees,
and though my 21 years seem really long they're a drop in the ocean, a syllable in a song.
Something must be rotten in Denmark, 'cause I could be a little more than a light flickering, flickering in the dark.

So my apparent doubts are obvious.
They are the same doubts that are preyed upon by such a host.
How can you tell me that you want this? That I need to know?
You do your talking in graveyards while I raise a toast.

So while the moon it regulates the tide, the stars are our measure of time.
Awareness assures us that we are alive.
The sun is like God's true disguise.
Do you feel you've been wasting your time?
While you're doing all your preaching to the sky.
Track Name: The Hatches
Nail down the hatches, spare a thought for your mattress.
A wind that tears wood from the stairs, it's beyond disrepair. It's madness.

And they sing "this is not the end"

Calm down the embers. Soothe your burnt skin, your tendons.
Man's liberty charred to debris. A fire walks with me, remembers.

And they sang "this is not the end"

The curl of a lisp (carried on), the crest of a wave. Lapping lonely legs of the pier.
Salt-engrained surf lips (sting along), a splintered wood craving. Jealous biting at barnacles.

You're the deepest blue, yet so shallow around my post.
A memory marooned, and harpooned. Carved up at best.
An arcade in my brain, and you need that entertainment
to stop you from sinking these ships.
Let your tide rise to meet my lips.

And they sang "this is not the end"
Carbon can't pretend
Track Name: Ballast in the Bloodstream
Well it's a road that's tried and tested, accounting for the human convoy.
That takes life's ride and makes the stops at all the cliché kismet points.
It's paramount your conquests include a degree, a job, a wife.
Social progress sold you your dreams of what your money can buy.

Cos progress is one foot in front of the other.
I sang that verse and it sure displeased my mother.
She said "you'll make life's ache lower cos pooled blood drains a little slower"

Well it's a ballast in the bloodstream, but ain't the details with the devil?
A fusion of your bank accounts will surely keep your spirit level.
It's another contract nailed to your back.
You will see once the veil has been lifted that paper is paper, and paper's a sure sign.
You give up trust when you sign on the dotted line.

I've been dreaming of a place called home.
I've been dreaming that your dreaming on your backbone.
Though your dreams are stones, still left unturned.
Careless dreaming will see you leaving alone.
Who cares?

Cos progress is one foot in front of the other.
I sang that verse and it sure displeased my mother.
She said "you'll make life's ache lower cos paired hearts bleed a little slower"
